De La Salle King’s Army composed of Elias Aquilina, Gabriel Gauci and Jack Cutajar Forte are the winners of the Malta School Games 2025. The top 6 teams who qualified from the Interschools Preliminaries held in April met at the University of Malta in a round-robin tournament.
King’s Army won all their 5 matches with Elias obtaining 3 out of 5 points, Gabriel won all of his 5 games while Jack managed 4.5 out of 5.
The tournament was very balanced, and 3 teams ended with the same number of points with 2 wins each and a draw.
St. Margaret Cospicua Middle School had the best tie-break score to take runner-up position. Rhys Willis on board 1 collected 2 out of 5 pts; Ickerson Vella on board 2 also had 2 out of 5 pts while Tristan Jes Scicluna on board 3 took 3 out of 5 pts.
For 3rd place, St. Martin’s College and St. Michael’s School had the same tie-break scores. St. Martin’s took the bronze thanks to their director encounter win (2-1).
Special mention were the top performances of St. Theresa Secondary School top board Matthew Portelli who won all 5 games and of De La Salle Marching Knights top board Benjamin Calleja Falzon who obtained 4 out of 5 pts.
