CM Jack Mizzi, current Malta Champion, played in European Individual Chess Championship in Eforie Nord, Romania. In what is well known as the strongest of the continental championships, Mizzi had a solid tournament where he ended just ahead of his initial seeding.
Jack was out-rated in all but 3 games despite being amongst the highest rated active Maltese players. He nevertheless scored 4.5/11 against an average opponent rating of 2196, earning him +2 Elo.
Jack took home a few titled upsets: a draw in round 2 against the Romanian International Master Alexandru-Vasile David rated 2331, and a win against the Israeli Women International Master Noga Orian rated 2225 in 8, and a win against FIDE Master Aleksa Petrovic rated 2294 in round 9.
